Why we built HEICtoJPEG.io

If you have ever taken a photo on an iPhone and tried to open it on a Windows PC, upload it to an older website, or share it with someone using non-Apple software, you have probably run into the same frustrating wall: HEIC. Apple’s default photo format is efficient and great for storage, but it is still not universally supported outside the Apple ecosystem.

We built HEICtoJPEG.io to solve that problem in the simplest way possible. It is a free, fast tool that converts HEIC and HEIF photos to high-quality JPEG files directly in your browser, with no uploads or sign-ups.

What Makes HEICtoJPEG.io Different

HEICtoJPEG.io converts your photos directly in your browser. Nothing gets uploaded or stored on our servers. Your files stay on your device from start to finish.

There is no account to create. Each batch supports up to 10 files, with a maximum size of 50 MB per file. No watermark is added to your photos. And it is completely free.

We built it this way because that is how a tool like this should work. Simple. Private. Fast.

The Team

HEICtoJPEG.io is built and maintained by the team at SocialBu LLC. We are a small product team that builds tools for people who work with content every day.

SocialBu is our main product, a platform that helps businesses manage and schedule their social media. HEICtoJPEG.io is a standalone free tool born from a real problem we kept running into ourselves.

Free means free. No hidden tiers. No “upgrade to unlock batch.” The full tool is available to everyone.

Quality matters. JPEG uses high-quality lossy compression. EXIF metadata—including the date taken, GPS location, and camera details—is not copied to converted JPEG files.
